Accomplishing Results

Recently I was talking with a friend who shared his frustration in trying to complete a long list of projects.

With so many important items listed, he didn't know where to begin and found he was jumping from project to project and not completing any of them.

Because he was having so much trouble prioritizing, I suggested that he “do what mattered most.” Anything that did not have to be done immediately was to be moved to the bottom of the list.

That was all he needed. He narrowed down his list to the items that were time sensitive.

When you are concentrating on so many different areas at the same time, it is easy to lose your focus. It is often difficult to see the details when you are looking at the big picture. By tackling and completing one project at a time, you can gradually reduce the items on your list, eliminating some of the stress and frustration and end up actually accomplishing more.

The next time you feel overwhelmed, pause and think of “what matters the most” at this very moment.

Block out everything else that is occupying your mind and time and focus only on the results you want to achieve. After you complete the projects with the highest value, then you can move on to the next most important ones.
